I purchased today, 11/20/23. The app’s graphical display stops at about 2/3 of the data being read from my internal 1TB SSD on my Mac mini running Sonoma. I got one complete graph and set it to no longer prompt me as warning were displayed regarding the drive’s content. The graphs of several external HHDs seem fine. To address this problem, I restarted the MAC–no change.
I do not see any mention of the experience that I am having.
Is there a solution?

I’m running macOS Sonoma as well and I also get that app data prompt at about 2/3 of the progress. Unfortunately I cannot influence whether those alerts during the scan are shown or not, as that’s all done by macOS. I didn’t pay attention to the fact that this app data prompt is shown on each scan, while my expectation is that it should be shown only once as all the other prompts that are shown on the first scan. I have the impression that it’s a macOS issue that only Apple could solve. Sometimes they address issues fast, sometimes it can take years.

I just updated the App to the latest version and now I cannot open the App. It’s running on a early 2015 MacBook Air with MacOS 10.14.6.
Do you have any idea to solve that problem?

Hi, it would be really nice to have a context menu option to show a folder directly in Disk Graph. For example: Right Click -> Services -> Show in Disk Graph.
I will add a Disk Graph service in the next update.
With a multiuser system it’s very frustrating not to be able to see usage across all users. Even if I launch from the terminal as `sudo open -a ‘Disk Graph.app’` to theoretically run as root and I’ve also granted “Full Disk Access” through system prefs->privacy, Disk Graph doesn’t scan usage from other users except files that have open permissions. It’s difficult to manage overall disk usage when you can’t see it all in one place.
I had assumed that Full Disk Access would be enough to see other users as well, but if they are not shown, it means that the app simply has no permission to do so. I’m afraid that there’s no way around this for an App Store app. From what I know, the techniques to escalate privileges required to see other users’ data are not allowed on the App Store.
After scanning a drive, the graphical overview is shown only partially. Makes it nearly impossible to work with.
This is with version 2.4.2 under 10.13.6. Can not attach a screenshot here, to show what it looks like…
It could be some incompatibility between Metal and your Mac. I just published an update which allows you to to disable Metal in favour of the older OpenGL.
Scanning the entire macOS “Macintosh HD” volume results in a crash after around 79-80% completion. App version: 2.4 (70) , macOS 12.5 on a 2018 MacBook Pro 13″

I could reproduce a crash that happened for me when the progress indicator reached 100% and I think it might be the same underlying issue in your case. An update that fixes this was just approved on the App Store.
Great tool thanks. But I also have some topics with it …
1) I would like to exclude some directorys from the analysis. For Example I would like to check the space on my lokal drive but I also have cloud drives, that are located in my personal folder. In my case I have OneDrive and pCloud. I would like to tell Disk Graph to ignore this online folders (right click on folder -> ignore and having a menue where it showes all ignored folders and can be activated again.)
2) Search and folder view: In the App Store there is a screenshot that shows the folder structure like in the finder next to the pie chart. I can’t find that in the app. Also the search functionality seems to be only with small help. To tidy up the disk I would like to search for special files (file type or size). After search I would like to see the result in a search window next to the pie chart. I would like to hover over these and would like to see them highlighted in the pie chart. (Right click to delete, show in finder, …)
3) With CMD + arrow up it’s possible to navigate a folder upwards. It would be great, if disk graph would remember this way through the folder structure and with CMD + arrow down it would be nice to go this way back.
4) It would be nice to have the option to see the actual folder name in the middle of the pie chart.
Also showing the Folder structure below the pie chart would be great. There you can use 2 rows if one row is not long enough to show the whole path.
There also seems to be a BUG at the moment.
When I am going in a deeper folder structure and then making the the window smaler in it’s wide, then the folder path is compleatly deleated at the top of the window. it also dose not come back if I am now going back in the folder structure and ther would be enough space to show the full path again.
5) I am missing some kind of dokumentation. There are some shorten names, where I don’t know, what they mean. Also some menue entrys are not clear. For example the View menue (Ansicht – german). For sorting it shows “Dateigröße” and “Dateigröße auf Volumen” (“file size” and “file size on volume”. What dose it mean? I think all files should be somewhere on the volume / disk.
My general conclusion about DiskGraph after using it 2 days. A good start and some good thoughts but in the details I am missing many functionalitys and small thinks like showing the path to the actual folder are really not done well and it looks like the software tests are not done really well or there is missing some focus to check from the view of the user.
Being able to ignore some folders would be a nice addition. I will think of the best way to add this feature, but cannot promise anything yet.
The first item in the View menu is called Show Outline and that’s what shows the file list like the Finder. Being able to use more complex search filters other than the filename is certainly also something that could be valuable to other users, but this could take some time as well. Showing the search results in the file list next to the chart is something I would like to change as well.
Showing the folder name in the center of the chart would be redundant in my opinion, since it’s already shown in the navigation bar. But you’re right about the disappearing navigation bar: I will have a look at this.
The “file size” and “file size on disk” are terms used in the Finder, so I used them here as well. The “on disk” means the physical file size occupied, while the simple “file size” is the virtual size, which can be physically compressed on the volume, so the “on disk” size can be smaller. There is a help topic here: Setting the file sort order.
I am trying to delete old updates to my Mac OS X. The files show up in the circle but when I want to move them to the trash I receive “You don’t have permission…” Then “Go to file>get info.” I did that but am also told I don’t have permission to change from read only to read and write, and I am the administrator. The old install files are taking up 17GB of a 125 disk on my macbook air. Any information on how to complete this task would be greatly appreciated. I’m new to this program, having only just installed it today. Thanks.
Please try opening the file in the Finder, then moving it to the Trash from there. Usually you would get asked for an administrator password. But there are files though which the system prevents you from deleting, and I don’t know if the update files you’re mentioning are among these.

great tool! Unfortunately, since the last update, it sums up my total disk space to 396 GB even so I just have an 256 GB SSD installed. How can we fix this?
Have you tried switching to the Allocated File Size sort mode from the View menu?
Hi,
I’m having one issue with all app tested: they show a file’s reserved disk space, rather than actual allocated space. This means that one file (in my case Docker.raw) shows as taking more space than it does in reality.
This hinders effective app usage.
See this comparison of both apps showing 64GB instead of “2.45GB on disk”:

If the API for actual disk usage is slow, maybe enable it on-demand for the really big files?
I’m also worried about that clicking “Favorites” in the top left looses the analysis so it has to be redone from start. This is a trap that first time users will likely discover. And if you use the app only sporadically you might “rediscover” this every time.
I also did not see any hints in the Lite version about what features would be in the Pro version. Maybe there are some things there that I should try out?
In order for the Docker image to show its allocated space, please select View > Allocated File Size. The scan results should be restored when selecting a folder again in the Favorites list unless you restart the app. I will add a hint in the next update of the Lite version about the differences to the full version.
Disk Graph immediately crashes on my iMac11,1 10.13.6 . So fast that nothing can be identified.

There is some discrepancy between Disk Graph and the actual storage usage according to Apple if you use OneDrive with “Files On-Demand”. I have a huge folder (pink on the left bottom) which actually does not take any space on my disc because I made it available “on-demand” in OneDrive for Mac: https://ibb.co/DGrmsRM
If I hover over these folders, Disk Graph starts to download these files, which is completely unacceptable because downloading all the files from my OneDrive (in the range of several terabytes) would require much more space than I have on my SSD available. Thus, I had to block Disk Graph on OneDrive to prevent automatic downloads.
Please repair this and make Disk Graph usable again! Thanks!
A new mode to display the allocated file size has been added to the View menu in the newest update.
Since the last update, 2.1.1 (38), DiskGraph shows the result only partly.

This issue has been solved in the recent update.
As mentioned in my App Store review your app requires access to my contacts and calendar when scanning my user folder. This should not be required to get the files sizes and leaves a bad taste because data security. I’m not scanning the “Macintosh HD”, just my own user folder! (Mojave)
This is a security feature in macOS 10.14 Mojave which is automatically triggered when scanning your home folder.
Scanning my home folder, the progress indicator gets stuck at 3.3%. After a while it completes and shows the results. But the feeling is pretty weird, because it looks like it is not responding while scanning.
The scan progress being “stuck” is normal behavior. When you scan a folder, there is no efficient way of estimating how long the scan will take or the total number of files contained in the folder hierarchy. The approximation that Disk Graph and many other apps adopt works by splitting the total percentage evenly etween the files of a folder, which means that if most files are concentrated inside some deeply nested folders the progress will apparently be stuck. Unfortunately there is no workaround.
If you scan the whole Macintosh HD (which has the HFS+ filesystem), the progress will be much more precise since the total number of files is known.
Since the last update of DiskGraph, the percentage and labels are no longer readable. OSX 10.12.4 (16E195), DiskGraph Version 1.4 (28). Running on MacBook Pro 15” (Retina, Mid 2012).
This issue appears to happen only on Macs with Retina display. An update is on the way.
