You can select any volume or directory reachable in the Finder (on macOS) or the Files app (on iOS\/iPadOS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By default, the files are shown in a pie chart<\/a>: each circle represents one level of the directory hierarchy and the size of each section is proportional to the corresponding file size. When moving the cursor over a section, the name and size of the file are displayed. Files that are too small to show individually are grouped in gray sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Size Mode<\/a> allows to change how big each section is, depending whether you’re interested in seeing the virtual or allocated size, or the number of files.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

You can freely navigate inside the graph: click on a directory to expand it and get a better view of its contents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to see all file names and attributes, or some files are too small to see in the graph, just show the file list.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

You can switch anytime to the tree map<\/a>, which displays all files regardless how deep they are inside the directory. Just like in the pie chart, files that are too small to show individually are grouped in gray sections.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

By default, files are colored according to their position on the hue wheel. You can also color them according to their creation or modification date<\/a>: a warmer color indicates a recent file, while a cooler color an older one.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

From the File or context menu you can show a file’s preview, show it in the Finder or move it directly to the bin, or just use the keyboard shortcut for even faster cleanup operations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Temporal snapshots.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Disk Graph allows you to export a scanned volume or directory as a snapshot file. You can open a snapshot later as if it was a regular directory and see what it contained at that point in time. You can open multiple snapshots and directories as a file sequence<\/a>: an interactive animation that shows the transition between the selected snapshots and directories.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

About<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I created Disk Graph because I wanted to regain control over my disk space. Both the operating system and different apps (and sometimes even I) may create files that are forever forgotten… until I put on my detective hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disk Graph doesn’t use any proprietary file format<\/a>. All produced files can be viewed in a text editor: favorites and snapshots<\/a> are saved in JSON or TSV files.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
