{"id":1212,"date":"2017-11-24T23:35:54","date_gmt":"2017-11-24T22:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/?p=1212"},"modified":"2025-10-03T15:12:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T14:12:12","slug":"synctime-sync-confirmation-dialog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/synctime-sync-confirmation-dialog\/","title":{"rendered":"Sync confirmation dialog"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The sync confirmation dialog is displayed by default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To skip the confirmation dialog and apply the changes automatically, enable the option <em>Skip confirmation dialog<\/em> in the Advanced tab of the sync item settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1324\" height=\"1328\" src=\"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/synctime-sync-settings-advanced.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5137\" style=\"width:662px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The confirmation dialog shows all the changes that will be applied during a sync, grouped by files to be removed, overwritten and added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1652\" height=\"1468\" src=\"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/synctime-confirm-sync-dialog.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5131\" style=\"width:826px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When a <strong>regular file<\/strong> has been added or removed or its contents have changed, its name is displayed in the default label color. On the other hand, if only a file&#8217;s <strong>metadata<\/strong> has changed (such as the hidden or locked state), its name is displayed in gray and the Size column shows a dot &#8220;\u2022&#8221; to indicate that the actual file contents will not be copied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, a <strong>directory<\/strong> is displayed in gray if it&#8217;s neither removed nor added (but contents with a black name will). If the directory&#8217;s metadata has changed, its name is also displayed in gray and the Size column shows a dot &#8220;\u2022&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finder tags are always synced for new files. If the option <em>Always synchronize tags<\/em> in the Synchronization tab is enabled and the tags have been modified for an already existing file, the file will appear in gray and show a dot &#8220;\u2022&#8221; in the Size column to indicate that only the metadata has changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manipulate changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exclude temporarily<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A file can be excluded temporarily from the sync by selecting it and pressing the Delete key, or by right-clicking the file to open the context menu and selecting <em>Remove From Change List<\/em>. On the next sync, the file will be listed again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exclude permanently<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A file can be excluded permanently by right-clicking it to open the context menu and selecting <em>Add Selected Files to the Filter<\/em>. If you want to exclude all files with a specific name, select <em>Add All Files With the Same Name to the Filter<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to include the files again, remove the respective <a href=\"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/synctime-filter-files\/\">filters<\/a> in the sync settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revert changes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For <a href=\"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/synctime-sync-types\/\">two-way syncs<\/a>, changes can be reverted, preventing them from being propagated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Move files from the Add to the Remove list<\/strong> by right-clicking the file to open the context menu and selecting <em>Move to Remove List<\/em>. This will remove the file from the source base instead of adding it to the other bases. (<strong>Warning<\/strong>: the new file will be lost.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Move files from the Remove to the Add list<\/strong> by right-clicking the file to open the context menu and selecting <em>Move to Add List<\/em>. This will add the file again to the source base instead of removing it from the other bases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Invert files in the Overwrite list<\/strong> by right-clicking the file to open the context menu and selecting <em>Invert Overwrite Direction<\/em>. This will revert the file to its previous version instead of propagating the edits to the other bases. (<strong>Warning<\/strong>: the file edits will be lost.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">File info<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The confirmation dialog allows to inspect the file attributes that have changed. To show the file info, either double-click the file, or right-click it to open the context menu and select <em>Get Info<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1424\" height=\"1148\" src=\"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/synctime-confirm-sync-file-info.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5154\" style=\"width:712px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>removed<\/strong> or <strong>added<\/strong> files, the file info shows the details of the single file to be removed or added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>overwritten<\/strong> files, the file info shows the details of the source and destination files. For <a data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"635\" href=\"https:\/\/desairem.com\/wordpress\/synctime-sync-types\/\">two-way syncs<\/a>, it also shows the attributes of the file that are saved in the snapshot of the previous sync and were used to determine in which direction the file should be copied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Warnings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The confirmation dialog shows a warning in the following situations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>if a destination file will be overwritten by a source file with an older modification date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>if there is not enough available space on the destination volume.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The sync confirmation dialog is displayed by default.
