Category: SyncTime Changelog

  • SyncTime 5.4.3

    • Fixed an issue that caused the “Execute custom script” sync setting to be reset after reopening the app and showing the Advanced tab again.
    • Fixed a crash that happened when verifying an incremental backup and a file became unavailable during the comparison.
  • SyncTime 5.4.2

    • During a background sync, with the backup strategy set to “Move old files to…”, removed files are now moved to the archive folder. Old versions of modified files are still only archived during the main sync.
    • “File or Directory” filters now allow to manually enter a path, in case the path is not shown in the Finder.
    • If the scripts in the sync settings Advanced tab or in “Once all syncs have completed” cannot be listed, an alert is shown.
    • Fixed a crash that happened when removing a sync item that had a schedule attached and was also in an active sync group.
    • Fixed a crash that happened when removing a sync item within a sync group that had both sync items and sync groups.
  • SyncTime 5.4.1

    • When creating a new sync item, .DS_Store files are added automatically to the filter.
    • Fixed a crash that sometimes happened when multiple scan errors occurred at the same time.
    • Fixed a crash that happened on macOS 10.15 or older when trying to open the backup strategy popup button.
  • SyncTime 5.4

    • Improved compatibility with macOS 26.
    • When “Remove files not on source” is enabled, a destination file is not removed anymore if the respective source file triggers a scan error.
    • Fixed a crash that happened when running “Sync and Compare File Contents” and a file became unavailable during the comparison.
    • Fixed an error that sometimes happened when trying to run a sync with backup strategy “Incremental, link unchanged files” that had been previously cancelled.
    • Fixed an error that happened during the settings update process when launching a new app version after having used a much older version.
  • SyncTime 5.3

    • Sync items with a schedule set to Automatic don’t show an error anymore on app launch if one of the bases is unavailable. When “Sort by Relevance” is enabled, they are sorted after all sync items with a scheduled date.
    • Improved scan time for one-way moves. The full destination is not scanned anymore; the destination is only scanned for files with the same name as on the source.
    • Consolidated results in the confirmation panel: for syncs with more than two source bases, the changes are grouped by destination base, merging results from different sources.
    • Fixed a crash from macOS 11 to macOS 14 that happened when trying to add or edit a schedule.
    • Fixed an issue with the “Show only files affected by warning” filter in the sync confirmation panel that sometimes didn’t hide files properly.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented custom scripts with the handler signature “on syncStart(syncItem)” from running before a sync starts.
  • SyncTime 5.2

    • Added a new option “Save Backup Checksums” for incremental backups that allows backups to be verified later (requires macOS 10.15 or newer).
    • Added a new option to run a custom AppleScript before a sync starts.
    • A sync group’s Execution Mode allows to choose whether the contained steps are run sequentially or concurrently.
    • The confirmation dialog now has a filter that can be toggled to show only files with a warning.
    • Improved the speed of file contents comparison when running “Find unequal files” and added more detailed progress information.
    • “Find unequal files” has been renamed to “Sync And Compare File Contents”.
    • When two files with different contents are found during “Sync And Compare File Contents” for a one-way sync, the files are added to the Overwrite list instead of logging an error. An error is still logged for two-way syncs.
    • When adding a sync schedule for a sync item, you can now choose which action to run: “Sync”, “Sync And Compare File Contents” or “Verify Backup” (if supported).
    • The scripts “Send email” and “Send Slack message” have been updated so that they can differentiate between the completed action (“Sync”, “Sync And Compare File Contents” or “Verify Backup”). If you need to differentiate between these actions, please reinstall the corresponding script.
    • The sidebar context menu (which allowed to rename and remove groups) has been integrated into the menu that can be opened by clicking the three-dots menu when viewing the sync group.
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the “Find unequal files” command to not start at all or start a sync for the wrong sync item.
    • Fixed an error that happened when trying to remove non-empty directories on some devices.
    • Fixed an error that happened when archiving locked files with the “Move old files to” backup strategy and the option “Temporarily unlock locked files before overwriting/removing them” was enabled.
  • SyncTime 5.1

    • Sync items in a group can now be deactivated from the context menu.
    • Sync groups can now contain both sync items and other groups.

    • Fixed an issue that caused the “Next sync” label to show the value “Now” after adding a new sync schedule.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the wrong folder to be opened when clicking on the magnifying glass button beside a sync base in the General tab of the sync settings (with 3 or more bases).
