L.A.M.A. by Reiner Knizia

The casual card game with cult status.

Get rid of your cards so you don’t have to collect any tokens. Will you pass, or will you hope to draw a matching card? LAMA is the digital adaptation of the card game by Reiner Knizia and AMIGO, on the nomination list for the “Spiel des Jahres 2019”.

For more details about the gameplay, please see the App Store page or the instruction manual on the publisher’s website. Below you find a showcase of the technical aspects of the digital adaptation.

Opponents

The game allows connecting up to 6 players: one of them are you, and the other players can be any combination of bots, local players (sharing your device) and remote players (on other devices). To connect to remote players, you may log in to GameCenter, or act as a host by selecting a port for incoming connections and sharing your network address with the other players.

Replay

After a game has finished, visit the Archive section to view the replay. The replay is created from the save file itself which contains the whole sequence of game actions.

Keyboard shortcuts are available to navigate the replay: press J for unwind, K or Spacebar for pause and play, L for rewind. Press J or L multiple times to double the speed, or press them while holding the Option key to halve the speed.

Statistics

For each player, the game tracks the number of moves and the time spent. These can be accessed from the end game scoreboard of an archived game. If you like a challenge, try to win by minimizing either of those when compared to your opponents or your past local games.
